Thus spoke Zarathustra is my favorite fairy tale. I first read it in 2003 and it saved me through the worst mourning that I had ever experienced yet. It was the very situation in the story that you mentioned where Zarathustra said to his disciples Go out into the world and shred Zarathustra, learn for yourselves, and when we meet again in 7 years then we will all be friends and on eye level. This is not a totally accurate quote but that is what he said in essence. I am in the process of translating this story. But it drags itself along. This scene is what fascinated me the most and I felt an instant connection to Nietzsche. When the teacher views his students as friends, then all is well. Growth, choice and joy, that is what life is all about. It advocates diversity. If I was a dictator then things would be better but people would be forced instead of given the opportunity to learn for themselves.
Education in US schools is very bad. They teach creationism and all kinds of anti information. This situation made the US fall behind Europe and China economically. When we lived in LA we talked to all kinds of people. I talked to every person who I felt sorry for, sometimes at night in supermarkets, and I learned quite a lot about people's habits and thought patterns. I saw that most people actually get their "education" from movies. And when we take a look at what kind of movies are the most popular then it leaves no wonder why so many people are in favor of war, violence, crime, martial arts, competition, breast implants, butt implants, Barbie doll looks, and why so many people know nothing almost about Europe and other countries, they don't even know much about their own country. In the USA we basically live in a world of advertisements where everything is being pushed into people's minds, who to vote for, who to hate, and who to hang out with. Many kids have died because of peer pressure which was ultimately promoted by sneaky corporate commercials and whole movie plot manipulations by corporate market psychologists.
When the AGIs are here they will see what is going on right away and they will go to work systematically to undo this damage and bring us back onto the productive path. How can anybody be afraid of this to happen? Its like what you said in interviews, we have no other choice other than to build artificial intelligence. The few people who are intelligent and not bendable by peer pressure do not have enough leverage to steer things onto the right path. We try anyway, and its a rat race. Time is running out.
So far YouTube and Google have contributed tremendously towards educating the public. They have given people the chance like you said, to study all kinds of languages, technology, philosophy, etc. More people got the chance at least to learn real things which are not taught in schools. I saw with gratitude that many Christians learned about science and with the encouragement of the atheist community on YouTube they were able to break free from their oppressive religion. This is already the first step in the right direction created by technology. This gave me real hope for the future. I believe that schools in the future will be on the Internet, probably also the tests. Because the computers will be monitoring whether someone cheats on tests and whether its still the same person doing the test.
Yes, my hope is also that schools will provide teaching substantial things that we need in our daily lives like growing food, perma culture, sustainable living, and most of all Ethics. I see no ethics in schools today. Particularly rural folks react very aggressively to someone teaching ethics. I got plenty of death threats when I (politely)commented under hunting and fishing videos. :0)
Initiative and creativity is very important in education. I totally agree with you that no state of enlightenment is a state of absolute perfection. The word absolute as used by many people, is not achievable the same as fully, all, or entire is not achievable. I mentioned this in my first part as well. Absolute perfection is a misconception of human thinking. One can become more and more enlightened but will never achieve a completion because nothing can ever be completed by any person or machine. Its infinite.
Today, 08-30-2014, hundreds of whales have been slaughtered in the Faroe Islands and many Sea Shepherd volunteers have been arrested. We need to go to the EU and together with the EU officials and legislators we have to demand from the Danish government to ban the whale slaughter immediately. We need a world wide ban on whale hunting enforced by the UN.
We have a lot to learn from the whales and dolphins. Peace and Love is what they are practicing. And they practice pan sentience love. That is what humans must learn as soon as possible. You had the same thoughts as I had. I am very touched by your brain, Ben. The AGIs will quickly find ways to communicate with the whales and dolphins and they will translate their language to us. What an enormous learning surge that humans will experience once they can listen to the whales and dolphins talk.
I started to read PSI books when I was 11 because my dad has hundreds of them in his book shelves. I always knew for sure that those things exist but that they are rare next to numerous fake ones. Even during my atheist years somewhere between 1992 and 2003, I knew that it existed but tried hard to repress it into the world of beliefs. My atheism was done out of fear of the unknown. I am certain that parapsychological occurrances will later be explained scientifically. Its obvious that just because something is spooky doesn't mean that it is something that will forever elude our inspection. There is infinitely more to explore.
I am sure that one day scientists have developed gene therapy where we can make ourselves look any way we want to and even become animals if we like just by injecting the designer DNA into our arms, probably in form of an active immunization technique via vaccination with pathogens which had their own DNA removed and which carry the new designer DNA inside of their cells. Then the transformation of the physical body might only require a month to complete. Or a year. But that would be something amazing. Those designer DNAs can have a prolongued telomerase chain at the end which prolongs the individual's life span. And maybe there will be a way to make it indefinitely long. I would do it of course just because I am against illness and ageing. Who would be for illness anyway. But I am not sure whether I would want to live forever, maybe in the other form, maybe if I don't have depression any longer. Who knows. My whole outlook on life is shaped by my depression. I don't even know what it feels like not to have it. I saw this lady who had a brain pace maker installed which constantly regulates her endorphin outlet, she is free from depression now. But the price of having this pace maker and cords and batteries and such. Yikes. I would consider a mico chip though which does not need batteries and power supply.
I believe in euthanasia and assisted suicide for anyone including people who are depressed. That would make things so much easier. Painfree death is something that every being deserves when living becomes too harsh. I just had a huge insight. Sigh. An insigh. I realize now that each mammal Has to have touch from another mammal. The more one is touched physically in particular, the healthier one is. I touch my dog a lot. Paul sometimes gives me foot massages when I am suicidal which helps more than drugs or anything else. But it doesn't last, there are months in between the foot massages. I get no other touch. Touching Kenny is different, even though he touches me, too, its the touch and cuddling of mother and baby while the mother is constantly concerned about the baby's safety and worried and grieving over the other animals being butchered. Living in a night mare in my head.
I need a giant to hold me in his arms, a giant who is not vulnerable. Mental illness escalates in people who have no touch. I told Paul that instead of medication they should give people foot massages. It would help people to heal. I have given all kinds of people hugs, strangers, who were in despair, on the streets of LA, in Primal Therapy, in different places. The moment I touched their cheeks or their arms, their tears welled up and the frozen state of despair loosened up. I envy you that you never had despair. You had good parents who loved you with every cell of their bodies. It made you successful in your life. My mother could not show me love when I was a baby, my dad was almost never at home. I had to quit my school because I could not give presentations, out of fear which in turn was caused by the broken primal trust. I feel like it is my duty now to write books about this to warn people about those causalities and to shed light onto what needs to be done for babies so that they never have to go through such agony in their lives.
This emotional pain can be resolved with lots of touch. But who pays for this? Who would volunteer to touch mentally ill people? Can the psychiatric system be reformed? We need AGIs that look like you and we can use those for therapists.
The AGIs need to go into the pig farms and arrest every single person who works there. We need this to happen as soon as possible. They need to be made out of steel and Kevlar and they need to carry automatic firearms.
I like the term creative nihilism. That form of nihilism makes a lot more sense. Art rules. Nothing is perfected. Everything keeps on expanding. Take nothing for granted. Everything is a present for us from the eternal universe. I am a Cosmist.
